The Lord is my rock

I wrote this song whilst on holiday near Hunstanton, staying in a caravan back in 1992.
Writing on holiday usually means writing on a guitar rather than a piano, which does impact the style of songs.
I unashamedly admit that I had the feel of the song ‘Deeply dippy’ by Right said Fred in mind as I read through Psalm 18……..
The words are an almost direct lifting of the Psalm.
This song is now over 10 years old but still is a really popular one at our church

below are the lyrics to 'The Lord is my rock'

The Lord is my Rock, My fortress, My deliverer
He is my shield, And the strength of my salvation
For who is God besides the Lord
And who is the Rock besides our God

I will praise You O Lord among the nations
I will sing praises to your name
I will praise You O Lord among the nations
I will sing praises to your name

Praise be to my Rock, Exalted be my Saviour
The Lord my God Has turned my darkness into light
For who is God besides the Lord
And who is the Rock besides our God
