Holy Spirit we wait on you
In 1999 in Ipswich, Christian Youth Ministries put on an event called ‘Pentecost Praise’. In choosing the material for the event, I was looking for a slow evocative song calling on the Holy Spirit to come and move. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so sat down at the piano one evening, at that time in our conservatory, and wrote the whole of the song in around 20 minutes. It is the quickest I have written a song - ever! What is even more remarkable is that most of the songs we write, I revisit day after day in the crafting period, ‘tweaking’ bits of lyric or melody to make them more flowing, understandable, etc. This song I didn’t touch on any of my ‘revisits’. I felt that it was definitely one of those of those God-inspired moments.
This song is published by Kevin Mayhew Ltd in ‘Source 3’ and is also in the Spring Harvest 1992 song book.
